ITA Airways - NEW FLEET INTERIORS
collaboration with: Walter De Silva & Mario Antonioli

Design Story
The concept behind the redesign of ITA Airways’ interiors is inspired by “the sky in a room” – the idea of recreating within the aircraft a pleasant atmosphere that is consistent with the very essence of travelling above the clouds. Comfort, elegance, simplicity,
materials and colours are the starting point for designing the new seats on ITA Airways aircraft, all aimed at meeting the need for a ‘people-centric’ approach; blue and beige tones predominate. But what matters most is the gradual adjustment of the lighting, which changes softly according to different situations: boarding – take-off – flight – dinner – lunch – sunrise – sunset – night.
Branding has been emphasised with the airline’s distinctive symbols. This means placing great emphasis on elements that ensure continuity across the entire fleet. The entire project naturally responds to what is now the watchword across all sectors: sustainability. Remaining strictly within the realm of design, this certainly means a focus on the use of certain sustainable materials, such as wool and leather, a sustainability that has its roots in the culture of the project.
